This
small village is
situated at the bottom
of the Cavedine Valley
and dominates the
western slopes of the
river Sarca
Valley. Its geographic
position allows it to
enjoy the Mediterranean
climate which is typical
of Lake Garda,
while still remaining
in a mountain setting.
Prehistoric man once
lived in this area and
the Romans built two
roads to travel
northwards. The
completely restored
castle of Drena
belonged to the Counts
of Arco in the year
1175. It was later
destroyed by the French
General Vendôme in the
year 1703. Nowadays it
is a meeting point for
visitors, a congress
centre and summer
artistic performances.
Milleniary chestnut
trees grow in the woods
around Drena and produce
first quality chestnuts.
